98. ✧ al-Hasan b. Ali, ᴿᴬ

    قُلْتُ لِلْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ: مَا تَذْكُرُ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ ؟ قَالَ: أَخَذْتُ تَمْرَةً مِنْ تَمْرِ الصَّدَقَةِ فَأَلْقَيْتُهَا فِي فِيَّ، فَنَزَعَهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِلُعَابِهَا فَأَلْقَاهَا فِي التَّمْرِ، فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، تَمْرَةٌ مِنْ صَبِيٍّ ! فَقَالَ: إِنَّا آلَ مُحَمَّدٍ لَا تَحِلُّ لَنَا الصَّدَقَةُ

    ✧ I said to al-Hasan b. Ali: "What do you remember of the Prophet ﷺ?" He said: "I took a date from the dates of the sadaqah and threw it into my mouth. The Prophet ﷺ pulled it out with its saliva and threw it back among the dates. They said: 'O Messenger of God, a date from a boy!' He said: 'We, the family of Muhammad, do not find sadaqah lawful for us.'"

    قُلْتُ لِلْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ؓ: مَا تَذْكُرُ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ ؟ قَالَ: كَانَ يَقُولُ: دَعْ مَا يَرِيبُكَ إِلَى مَا لَا يَرِيبُكَ، فَإِنَّ الصِّدْقَ طُمَأْنِينَةٌ وَإِنَّ الْكَذِبَ رِيبَةٌ

    ✧ I said to al-Hasan b. Ali ؓ: "What do you remember of the Prophet ﷺ?" He said: "He used to say: 'Leave what makes you doubt for what does not make you doubt. Indeed truthfulness is tranquility and lying is doubt.'"

    قُلْتُ لِلْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ: مَا تَذْكُرُ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ ؟ قَالَ: يُعَلِّمُنَا هَذَا الدُّعَاءَ: اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِنِي فِيمَنْ هَدَيْتَ، وَعَافِنِي فِيمَنْ عَافَيْتَ، وَتَوَلَّنِي فِيمَنْ تَوَلَّيْتَ، وَقِنِي شَرَّ مَا قَضَيْتَ، إِنَّكَ تَقْضِي وَلَا يُقْضَى عَلَيْكَ، إِنَّهُ لَا يَذِلُّ مَنْ وَالَيْتَ، تَبَارَكْتَ رَبَّنَا وَتَعَالَيْتَ

    ✧ I said to al-Hasan b. Ali: "What do you remember of the Prophet ﷺ?" He said: "He would teach us this supplication: 'O God, guide me among those You have guided, and grant me well-being among those You have granted well-being, and take me as a friend among those You have taken as friends, and protect me from the evil of what You have decreed. Indeed You decree and none decrees against You. Indeed the one You befriend is never humiliated. Blessed are You, our Lord, and Exalted.'"
