   يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنِّي بِأَرْضٍ أَهْلُهَا أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ يَأْكُلُونَ لَحْمَ الْخِنْزِيرِ وَيَشْرَبُونَ الْخَمْرَ، فَكَيْفَ بِآنِيَتِهِمْ وَقُدُورِهِمْ ؟ فَقَالَ: دَعُوهَا مَا وَجَدْتُمْ مِنْهَا بُدًّا، فَإِذَا لَمْ تَجِدُوا مِنْهَا بُدًّا فَارْحَضُوهَا بِالْمَاءِ - أَوْ قَالَ: اغْسِلُوهَا - ثُمَّ اطْبُخُوا فِيهَا وَكُلُوا "، قَالَ: وَأَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ: " وَاشْرَبُوا

   ✧ O Messenger of God, I live in a land whose people are People of the Book: they eat pork and drink wine. What about their vessels and cooking pots? He said: 'Leave them as long as you can do without them. If you cannot do without them, rinse them with water — or he said: wash them — then cook in them and eat.' He said: And I think he said: 'And drink.'

   قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنِّي أُرْسِلُ كَلْبِي فَيَأْخُذُ الصَّيْدَ ؟ قَالَ: إِذَا أَرْسَلْتَ كَلْبَكَ الْمُعَلَّمَ فَذَكَرْتَ اسْمَ اللهِ فَأَخَذَ فَكُلْ، وَإِذَا أَرْسَلْتَ كَلْبَكَ الَّذِي لَيْسَ بِمُعَلَّمٍ فَأَخَذَ فَإِنْ أَدْرَكْتَ ذَكَاتَهُ فَكُلْ، وَإِنْ لَمْ تُدْرِكْ ذَكَاتَهُ فَلَا تَأْكُلْ

   ✧ I said: O Messenger of God, I send out my dog and it catches game? He said: 'If you send out your trained dog and mention God's name, and it catches, then eat. If you send out your dog that is not trained and it catches, then if you reach it while it is still alive and slaughter it, eat; if you do not reach it alive, do not eat.'

   " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ كُلِّ ذِي نَابٍ مِنَ السِّبَاعِ وَأَكْلِ الْحُمُرِ الْأَهْلِيَّةِ " أَوْ قَالَ: " الْإِنْسِيَّةِ "،

   ✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ forbade every beast of prey with fangs and the meat of domestic donkeys — or he said: 'tame ones.'
