   ✧ 'I saw the Messenger of God ﷺ eating cucumber with fresh dates.'

   أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لَمَّا أَتَاهُ هَلَاكُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ: اجْعَلُوا لِآلِ جَعْفَرٍ طَعَامًا؛ فَقَدْ جَاءَهُمْ مَا يَشْغَلُهُمْ

   ✧ When the news of Ja'far's death reached the Prophet ﷺ, he said: 'Prepare food for Ja'far's family, for there has come to them what preoccupies them.'

   " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا قَدِمَ مِنْ سَفَرٍ تُلُقِّيَ بِي وَبِالْحَسَنِ، فَيَجْعَلُ أَحَدَنَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ، وَالْآخَرَ خَلْفَهُ عَلَى الدَّابَّةِ

   ✧ 'When the Messenger of God ﷺ returned from a journey, he would be met by me and al-Hasan. He would place one of us in front of him and the other behind him on the mount.'

   مَنْ شَهِدَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ جَعْفَرٍ وَعَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ وَابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ يَحُزُّ لِعَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ اللَّحْمَ وَيُطْعِمُهُ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: أَطْيَبُ اللَّحْمِ الظَّهْرُ

   ✧ One who witnessed 'Abd Allah b. Ja'far and 'Abd Allah b. al-Zubayr, with Ibn al-Zubayr cutting meat for 'Abd Allah b. Ja'far and feeding him, and Ibn Ja'far said: 'I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: The best meat is the back.'

   لَمَّا أَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَتْلُ جَعْفَرٍ وَأَصْحَابِهِ أَمْهَلَ آلَ جَعْفَرٍ ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ أَتَاهُمْ فَقَالَ: " أَخْرِجُوا إِلَيَّ وَلَدَ أَخِي "، قَالَ: فَأُخْرِجَ ثَلَاثَةٌ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَفْرُخٌ، فَأُخْرِجَ عَبْدُ اللهِ وَعَوْنٌ وَمُحَمَّدٌ، فَدَعَا الْحَلَّاقَ فَحَلَقَ رُءُوسَهُمْ، وَقَالَ: " أَمَّا عَوْنٌ فَأَشْبَهَ خَلْقِي وَخُلُقِي، وَأَمَّا مُحَمَّدٌ فَأَشْبَهَ عَمَّنَا أَبَا طَالِبٍ "، وَأَخْذَ بِيَدِ عَبْدِ اللهِ فَأَشَالَهَا وَقَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ اخْلُفْ جَعْفَرًا فِي أَهْلِهِ، وَبَارِكْ لِعَبْدِ اللهِ فِي صَفْقَةِ يَمِينِهِ، قَالَ: وَجَعَلَتْ أُمُّهُمْ تَفْرَحُ لَهُمْ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " آلْعَيْلَةَ وَأَنَا وَلِيُّهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ

   ✧ When the news of the killing of Ja'far and his companions reached the Messenger of God ﷺ, he gave Ja'far's family three days' respite, then came to them and said: 'Bring out to me the children of my brother.' He said: Three were brought out, as if they were chicks: 'Abd Allah, 'Awn, and Muhammad were brought out. He called the barber and had their heads shaved, and said: 'As for 'Awn, he resembles me in appearance and character; as for Muhammad, he resembles our uncle Abu Talib.' He took 'Abd Allah by the hand, raised it, and said: 'O God, succeed Ja'far in his family, and bless 'Abd Allah in the transaction of his right hand.' He said: Their mother began to be anxious about them, and the Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'Do you fear poverty while I am their guardian in this world and the next?'
