58. Fortune-telling and Black Magic

  1. Sahih Ibn Hibban 6136Sahih

    سَأَلَ أُنَاسٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْكُهَّانِ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَيْسُوا بِشَيْءٍ» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّهُمْ يُحَدِّثُونَ أَحْيَانًا بِالشَّيْءِ يَكُونُ حَقًّا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «تِلْكَ الْكَلِمَةُ مِنَ الْجِنِّ يَحْفَظُهَا فَيَقْذِفُهَا فِي أُذُنِ وَلِيِّهِ فَيَخْلِطُونَ فِيهَا أَكْثَرَ مِنْ مِائَةِ كِذْبَةٍ»

    ✧ Some people asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the soothsayers (kuhhan). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them: 'They are nothing.' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, sometimes they speak of something that comes true.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'That is a word from the jinn which he snatches and casts into the ear of his ally (walī), and they mix with it more than a hundred lies.'

  2. Sahih Ibn Hibban 6137Hasan

    «لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ مُدْمِنُ خَمْرٍ وَلَا مُؤْمِنٌ بِسِحْرٍ وَلَا قَاطِعٌ»

    ✧ 'The one addicted to wine will not enter Paradise, nor the one who believes in sorcery, nor the one who severs kinship ties.'
