   ✧ When a man embraced Islam, the first thing the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would teach us was prayer — or he said: He taught him prayer.

   " قُلْتُ لِأَبِي يَا أَبَةِ صَلَّيْتَ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، وَخَلْفَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، وَعُمَرَ، وَعُثْمَانَ، وَعَلِيٍّ، هَلْ رَأَيْتَ أَحَدًا مِنْهُمْ قَنَتَ ؟ قَالَ: مُحْدَثًا يَا بُنَيَّ ".

   ✧ I said to my father: 'O father, you prayed behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and behind Abu Bakr, 'Umar, 'Uthman, and 'Ali. Did you see any of them perform qunut?' He said: 'That is an innovation, my son.'

   " مَنْ وَحَّدَ اللهَ، وَكَفَرَ بِمَا يُعْبَدُ مِنْ دُونِهِ حَرَّمْتُ مَالَهُ، وَدَمَهُ، وَحِسَابُهُ عَلَى اللهِ

   ✧ Whoever affirms the oneness of Allah and rejects what is worshiped besides Him, I have made his wealth and blood inviolable, and his reckoning is with Allah.

   " أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يَقُولُوا لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، فَإِذَا قَالُوا مَنَعُوا مِنِّي دِمَاءَهُمْ، وَأَمْوَالَهُمْ إِلَّا بِحَقِّهَا، وَحِسَابُهُمْ عَلَى اللهِ

   ✧ I have been commanded to fight the people until they say: 'There is no god but Allah.' If they say it, they protect their blood and wealth from me except by its right, and their reckoning is with Allah.
