✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ supplicated on the evening of 'Arafah for his community for forgiveness and mercy, and he increased in supplication. Allah answered him: I have done so and forgiven your community except the wrongdoing of some against others. He repeated, saying: O Lord, You are able to forgive the wrongdoer and reward the wronged with better than his grievance. That evening was nothing but that. The next day, he supplicated in the morning of Muzdalifah, and he repeated supplicating for his community. The Prophet ﷺ did not wait long before smiling. Some of his companions said: O Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, you smiled at a time when you would not laugh. What made you laugh, may Allah make you smile? He said: I smiled at the enemy of Allah, Iblis, when he knew that Allah had answered me regarding my community and forgiven the wrongdoer. He fell down calling for destruction and woe, throwing dust on his head. And he said once: I laughed at his distress.

✧ The Prophet ﷺ said to 'Umar: Gather for me the Quraysh who are here. He gathered them, then said: O Messenger of Allah, shall you go out to them or shall they enter? He said: Rather, I will go out to them. He went out and said: O assembly of Quraysh, is there anyone among you other than you? They said: No, except the sons of our sisters. He said: The son of a people's sister is from them. Then he said: O assembly of Quraysh, know that the people most deserving of the Prophet are the righteous. So look, do not let people come with deeds on the Day of Resurrection while you come with the world, carrying it, lest I turn away from you with my face. Then he recited: Indeed, the people most deserving of Ibrahim are those who followed him and this Prophet and those who believe, and Allah is the guardian of the believers.
