أَتَى جِبْرِيلُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ، إِنَّ اللهَ يُحِبُّ مِنْ أَصْحَابِكَ ثَلَاثَةً فَأَحِبَّهُمْ: عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، وَأَبُو ذَرٍّ، وَالْمِقْدَادُ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ، قَالَ: فَأَتَاهُ جِبْرِيلُ فَقَالَ لَهُ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ، إِنَّ الْجَنَّةَ لَتَشْتَاقُ إِلَى ثَلَاثَةٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِكَ، وَعِنْدَهُ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ، فَرَجَا أَنْ يَكُونَ لِبَعْضِ الْأَنْصَارِ، قَالَ: فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَسْأَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْهُمْ، فَهَابَهُ، فَخَرَجَ فَلَقِيَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ، فَقَالَ: يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ إِنِّي كُنْتُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ آنِفًا، فَأَتَاهُ جِبْرِيلُ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ الْجَنَّةَ تَشْتَاقُ إِلَى ثَلَاثَةٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِكَ، فَرَجَوْتُ أَنْ يَكُونَ لِبَعْضِ الْأَنْصَارِ، فَهِبْتُهُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَهُ، فَهَلْ لَكَ أَنْ تَدْخُلَ عَلَى نَبِيِّ اللهِ ﷺ فَتَسْأَلَهُ ؟ فَقَالَ: إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَهُ، فَلَا أَكُونُ مِنْهُمْ، وَيَشْمَتُ بِي قَوْمِي، ثُمَّ لَقِيَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ مِثْلَ قَوْلِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: فَلَقِيَ عَلِيًّا، فَقَالَ لَهُ عَلِيٌّ: نَعَمْ، إِنْ كُنْتُ مِنْهُمْ فَأَحْمَدُ اللهَ، وَإِنْ لَمْ أَكُنْ مِنْهُمْ فَحَمِدْتُ اللهَ، فَدَخَلَ عَلَى نَبِيِّ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ أَنَسًا
✧ Gabriel came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'O Muhammad, God loves three of your companions, so love them: Ali b. Abi Talib, Abu Dharr, and al-Miqdad b. al-Aswad.' He said: Then Gabriel came to him and said: 'O Muhammad, Paradise yearns for three of your companions.' Anas b. Malik was with him, and he hoped that it would be for some of the Ansar. He said: He wanted to ask the Messenger of God ﷺ about them but was in awe of him. So he went out and met Abu Bakr and said: 'O Abu Bakr, I was with the Messenger of God ﷺ a short while ago when Gabriel came to him and said: "Paradise yearns for three of your companions." I hoped that it would be for some of the Ansar, but I was in awe of him to ask him. Would you go in to the Prophet of God ﷺ and ask him?' He said: 'I fear to ask him, lest I not be among them and my people gloat over me.' Then Umar b. al-Khattab met me and said to him something like what Abu Bakr had said. He said: Then he met Ali, and Ali said to him: 'Yes, if I am among them, I praise God; and if I am not among them, I still praise God.' So he went in to the Prophet of God ﷺ and said: 'Anas is...'

قُلْتُ لِعُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي يَزِيدَ: رَأَيْتَ حُسَيْنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ ؟ قَالَ: أَسْوَدَ الرَّأْسِ وَاللِّحْيَةِ إِلَّا شُعَيْرَاتٍ هَاهُنَا فِي مُقَدَّمِ لِحْيَتِهِ، فَلَا أَدْرِي أَخَضَبَ وَتَرَكَ ذَلِكَ الْمَكَانَ تَشَبُّهًا بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَوْ لَمْ يَكُنْ شَابَ مِنْهُ غَيْرُ ذَلِكَ. قَالَ: وَرَأَيْتُ حَسَنًا وَقَدْ أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ سَجَدَ بَيْنَ الْإِمَامِ وَبَيْنَ بَعْضِ النَّاسِ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ: اجْلِسْ، فَقَالَ: قَدْ قَامَتِ الصَّلَاةُ.
✧ I said to Ubayd Allah b. Abi Yazid: 'Did you see al-Husayn b. Ali?' He said: 'His hair and beard were black except for a few hairs here in the front of his beard. I do not know whether he dyed it and left that place out of resemblance to the Messenger of God ﷺ, or whether only that part had not turned white.' He said: 'And I saw al-Hasan when the prayer had been commenced; he prostrated between the imam and some of the people. It was said to him: "Sit down." He said: "The prayer has already commenced."

لَا تُدِيمُوا النَّظَرَ إِلَى الْمُجَذَّمِينَ، وَإِذَا كَلَّمْتُمُوهُمْ فَلْيَكُنْ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُمْ قِيدُ رُمْحٍ
✧ Do not keep staring at lepers, and when you speak to them, let there be between you and them the distance of a spear's length.

✧ The miser is the one in whose presence I am mentioned and he does not invoke blessings upon me.

مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ وَلَا مُسْلِمَةٍ تُصِيبُهُ مُصِيبَةٌ، وَإِنْ قَدُمَ عَهْدُهَا، فَيُحْدِثُ لَهَا اسْتِرْجَاعًا إِلَّا أَحْدَثَ اللهُ لَهُ عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ وَأَعْطَاهُ ثَوَابَ مَا وَعَدَهُ عَلَيْهَا يَوْمَ أُصِيبَ بِهَا
✧ There is no Muslim man or woman who is struck by a calamity—even if its time has long passed—and then renews for it an istirja', except that God renews for him at that moment and gives him the reward of what He promised for it on the day he was struck by it.

✧ Whoever has a child born to him and calls the adhan in his right ear and the iqamah in his left ear, Umm al-Sibyan will not harm him.

أَمَانُ أُمَّتِي مِنَ الْغَرَقِ إِذَا رَكِبُوا أَنْ يَقُولُوا: بِسْمِ اللهِ مَجْرَاهَا وَمُرْسَاهَا إِنَّ رَبِّي لَغَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ وَمَا قَدَرُوا اللهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ الْآيَةَ
✧ The safeguard of my community from drowning when they embark is that they say: 'In the name of Allah is its course and its mooring. Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving and Merciful.' And they did not appraise Allah with true appraisal - the verse.

كَانَ يَتَوَضَّأُ فَغَسَلَ مَوْضِعَ سُجُودِهِ بِالْمَاءِ حَتَّى يُسِيلَهُ عَلَى مَوْضِعِ السُّجُودِ
✧ He used to perform ablution and washed the place of his prostration with water until it flowed over the place of prostration.

مَنْ شَهِدَ أَمْرًا فَكَرِهَهُ، كَانَ كَمَنْ غَابَ عَنْهُ، وَمَنْ غَابَ عَنْ أَمْرٍ فَرَضِيَ بِهِ، كَانَ كَمَنْ شَهِدَهُ
✧ Whoever witnesses a matter and dislikes it is like one who was absent from it, and whoever is absent from a matter and approves of it is like one who witnessed it.

عَلَّمَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ كَلِمَاتٍ أَقُولُهُنَّ فِي قُنُوتِ الْوِتْرِ: رَبِّ اهْدِنِي فِيمَنْ هَدَيْتَ، وَعَافِنِي فِيمَنْ عَافَيْتَ، وَتَوَلَّنِي فِيمَنْ تَوَلَّيْتَ، وَبَارِكْ لِي فِيمَا أَعْطَيْتَ، وَقِنِي شَرَّ مَا قَضَيْتَ، فَإِنَّكَ تَقْضِي وَلَا يُقْضَى عَلَيْكَ، وَإِنَّكَ لَا تُذِلُّ مَنْ وَالَيْتَ، تَبَارَكْتَ رَبَّنَا وَتَعَالَيْتَ
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me words to say in the qunut of witr: 'My Lord, guide me among those You have guided, and grant me well-being among those You have granted well-being, and take me as a friend among those You have taken as friends, and bless me in what You have given, and protect me from the evil of what You have decreed, for indeed You decree and none decrees over You, and indeed You do not humiliate those You befriend. Blessed are You, our Lord, and exalted.'
