✧ A Jewish woman of Khaybar poisoned a roasted sheep and gifted it to the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ took the foreleg and ate from it, and a group of his companions ate with him. Then the Prophet ﷺ said to them, 'Raise your hands.' The Prophet ﷺ sent for the Jewish woman and summoned her. He asked her, 'Did you poison this sheep?' She said, 'Yes. Who told you?' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'This foreleg in my hand informed me.' She said, 'Yes.' He said, 'What did you intend by that?' She said, 'I thought: if he is a prophet, it will not harm him; and if he is not a prophet, we will be rid of him.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ pardoned her and did not punish her. Some of his companions who ate from the sheep died. The Prophet ﷺ was cupped on his upper back because of what he ate from the sheep. Abu Hind, the freedman of Banu Bayadah, cupped him with a horn and a blade; he was from Banu Thumamah, a clan of the Ansar.
