كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَدْعُوَ عَلَى أَحَدٍ أَوْ يَدْعُوَ لِأَحَدٍ قَنَتَ بَعْدَ الرُّكُوعِ فَرُبَّمَا قَالَ إِذَا قَالَ «سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْجِ الْوَلِيدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ وَسَلَمَةَ بْنَ هِشَامٍ وَعَيَّاشَ بْنَ أَبِي رَبِيعَةَ وَالْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ اللَّهُمَّ اشْدُدْ وَطْأَتَكَ عَلَى مُضَرَ وَاجْعَلْهَا سِنِينَ كَسِنِي يُوسُفَ» وَيَجْهَرُ بِذَلِكَ وَيَقُولُ فِي بَعْضِ صَلَاتِهِ فِي صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ «اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ فُلَانًا وَفُلَانًا لِحَيَّيْنِ مِنْ أَحْيَاءِ الْعَرَبِ» فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى {لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ ظَالِمُونَ}

✧ When he wanted to supplicate against someone or for someone, he performed Qunut after the rukūʿ. Sometimes he would say, after saying "Allah hears the one who praises Him; our Lord, and to You belongs praise": "O Allah, save al-Walid b. al-Walid, Salamah b. Hisham, ʿAyyash b. Abi Rabiʿah, and the weak among the believers. O Allah, intensify Your punishment on Mudar and make years upon them like the years of Yusuf." He would say it aloud, and in some of his prayers, in the Fajr prayer, he would say: "O Allah, curse so-and-so and so-and-so," referring to two tribes of the Arabs. Then Allah revealed: "You have no part in the matter, whether He turns to them or punishes them, for they are wrongdoers."
