- Ibn Ḥazm
machine translationThis hadith is not authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) because Abū ʿAyyāsh is unknown (majhūl).
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 3005 - Taḥāwī
machine translationAbū ʿAyyāsh is not known.
machine translationIts transmission revolves around Zayd b. ʿAyyāsh, and he is weak (ḍaʿīf) according to the transmitters.
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 3005 - Khaṭṭābī
machine translationSome people have spoken about the chain of this hadith and said: Zayd Abū ʿAyyāsh is unknown (majhūl), and a chain like this, according to the principle of al-Shāfiʿī, is not to be used as evidence. But the matter is not as he imagined, for this Abū ʿAyyāsh is a well-known freed slave (mawlā) of Banū Zuhrah, and Mālik mentioned him in the Muwaṭṭaʾ, and Mālik does not narrate from a man whose hadith is abandoned (matrūk) in any way. This is Mālik's way and his habit.
