✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to Uhud and placed his wives and his paternal aunt Safiyya bt. Abd al-Muttalib in a fortress called Fari', and he put Hassan b. Thabit with them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to Uhud. A Jew climbed up until he looked over the wives of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his aunt. Safiyya said: "O Hassan, get up and kill him." He said: "No, by Allah, that is not in me; if that were in me, I would have gone out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." Safiyya said: "Then tie the sword on my arm." He said: "Then she advanced toward him until she killed him and cut off his head. She said to him: 'Take the head and throw it at the Jews.' He said: 'That is not in me.' So she took the head and threw it at the Jews. The Jews said: 'We know that Muhammad would not leave his family unprotected with no one with them.' So they dispersed and went away. A'isha said: Sa'd b. Mu'adh passed by saying: 'Take it easy; a little while and the battle will catch up with a carrier. No harm in death when the appointed time comes.' She said: 'I never saw anyone more handsome than him that day. He had traces of yellow on him, and he wore a short coat of mail. He had married and consummated with his wife a few days before, so he had traces of saffron.' He said: 'Hassan, when the Prophet ﷺ charged at the disbelievers, would open the fortress, and when they retreated, he would go back with them.'
