✧ We were sitting with the Messenger of God ﷺ when a cloud passed by. The Messenger of God ﷺ said, "Do you know what this is?" We said, "God and His Messenger know best." He said, "This is the cloud, and it is driven to a people of a land who do not worship Him" - I think he said: "and do not ask Him" - "Do you know what is above that?" They said, "God and His Messenger know best." He said, "A restrained wave and a guarded roof. Do you know what is above that?" They said, "God and His Messenger know best." He said, "Above that is a sky. Do you know what is above that?" They said, "God and His Messenger know best." He said, "Above that is a sky. Do you know what is between them?" They said, "God and His Messenger know best." He said, "Between them is a distance of five hundred years" - until he counted seven heavens, between each sky a distance of five hundred years - then he said, "Do you know what is above that?" They said, "God and His Messenger know best." He said, "Above that is the Throne." And he said, "Between them is what is between the two skies." And he said, "Do you know what this is?" They said, "God and His Messenger know best." He said, "This is the earth." He said, "Do you know what is beneath it?" They said, "God and His Messenger know best." He said, "Between them is a distance of five hundred years." Then he said, "By the One in whose hand is my soul" - I think he said - "if one of you, or if one of you were to work down to the seven earths, or in the seven earths, to the lowest, he would still end up with God." Or words to that effect, then he recited: "He is the First and the Last, the Outward and the Inward" - the verse.
