✧ When a believer is at the point of death, the angels come to him with a piece of silk containing musk and bundles of basil. His soul is drawn out as a hair is drawn out of dough, and it is said: 'O tranquil soul, come out content and well-pleasing to your Lord, to the mercy of Allah and His honor.' When his soul departs, it is placed upon that musk and basil, the silk is folded over it, and it is taken up to 'Illiyyin. When a disbeliever is at the point of death, the angels come to him with a coarse haircloth containing a live coal. His soul is violently torn out, and it is said: 'O wicked soul, come out wrathful and with wrath upon you, to the humiliation of Allah and His punishment.' When his soul departs, it is placed upon that live coal, the haircloth is folded over it, and it is taken down to Sijjin.

machine translationQatādah narrates it, and there is disagreement about it from him. Hammām narrated it from Qatādah, from Abū al-Jawzāʾ, from Abū Hurayrah. Al-Qāsim b. al-Faḍl differed from them and narrated it from Qatādah, from Qasāmah b. Zuhayr, from Abū Hurayrah. And God knows best what is correct.
