✧ When a believer is at the point of death, the angels of mercy come to him with a white piece of silk and say: 'Come out content and well-pleasing to your Lord, to the mercy of Allah, sweet basil, and a Lord who is not angry.' It comes out with the sweetest scent of musk, so much so that they pass it to one another, smelling it, until they bring it to the gate of heaven. The angels there say: 'How sweet is this scent that has come to you from the earth.' Whenever they bring it to a heaven, they say the same to them, until they bring it to the souls of the believers. They are more delighted with it than one of you is with his absent loved one when he arrives. They ask: 'What did so-and-so do?' They say: 'Leave him until he rests, for he was in the distress of the world.' When he recovers or rests, he says to them: 'Has he not come to you? He has died!' They say: 'He has gone to his mother, the Abyss.' As for the disbeliever, the angels of punishment come to him with a coarse haircloth and say: 'Come out wrathful and with wrath upon you, to the punishment of Allah and His anger.' It comes out with the foulest stench of a corpse, and they take him to the gate of the earth.
