✧ Zayd b. Harithah went out to Makkah and brought back the daughter of Hamzah b. 'Abd al-Muttalib. Ja'far b. Abi Talib said, 'I will take her; I have more right to her. She is my cousin, and her maternal aunt is with me, and the maternal aunt is like a mother.' 'Ali said, 'Rather, I have more right to her than both of you. She is my cousin, and I have the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and she has more right to her. And I am raising my voice so that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ hears my argument before he comes out.' Zayd said, 'Rather, I have more right to her. I went out to her, traveled, and brought her.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out and said, 'What is your matter?' They repeated their statements to him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'I will judge between you in this and in other matters.' 'Ali said, 'When he said "in other matters," I said, "The Qur'an was revealed regarding our raising our voices."' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "As for you, Zayd, you are my mawla and their mawla." He said, 'I am pleased, O Messenger of Allah.' "And as for you, Ja'far, you resemble my physical appearance and character, and you are from my tree from which I come." He said, 'I am pleased, O Messenger of Allah.' "And as for you, 'Ali, you are my close friend and my trustee." He said, 'I am pleased, O Messenger of Allah.' "And as for the girl, I judge her for Ja'far; she will be with her maternal aunt, and the maternal aunt is like a mother." He said, 'We have submitted, O Messenger of Allah.'
