✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was standing leading them in prayer when he finished, then he came while his head was dripping water and said, 'I stood with you, then I remembered that I had been in a state of major ritual impurity and had not bathed, so I left and bathed. Whoever among you experiences what I experienced or feels a movement in his stomach should leave and bathe or perform ablution.'

machine translationI am content for this to be the words of ʿAlī, stopped at him (mawqūf). Ibn Lahīʿah had confused (khalaṭa) his narrations, and as for this hadith, he said once: "ʿAbdullāh b. Hubayrah narrated to us, from ʿAbdullāh b. Zurayr, from ʿAlī, from the Prophet ﷺ," and he said another time: "al-Ḥārith b. Yazīd narrated to us, from ʿAbdullāh b. Zurayr, from ʿAlī, from the Prophet ﷺ."
