  • Bazzār

    in مسند البزار, p. 8440
  • Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr

machine translationA hadith with a disordered chain (muḍṭarib al-isnād), not established. There is disagreement over its chain going back to al-Awzāʿī and to Saʿīd b. Abī Saʿīd, a disagreement that invalidates relying on it as evidence.

    in مسند البزار, p. 8440
  • Ibn al-Qaṭṭān

machine translationA hadith that Abū Dāwūd narrated by a route that cannot be thought sound, for he narrated it from the hadith of Muḥammad b. Kathīr, from al-Awzāʿī. Muḥammad b. Kathīr al-Ṣanʿānī by origin, al-Miṣṣīṣī by residence, Abū Yūsuf, is weak (ḍaʿīf), and his weakest transmission is from al-Awzāʿī. ʿAbdullāh b. Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal said: my father said: he is one who narrates objectionable material (munkar al-ḥadīth); he narrates objectionable things. And Ṣāliḥ b. Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal said: my father said: in my view he is not trustworthy (thiqah).

    in مسند البزار, p. 8440
  • ʿAbd al-ʿAẓīm al-Mudhirī

machine translationIn it is Muḥammad b. ʿAjlān, about whom there is some criticism; the two (Shaykhs) did not use him as evidence. And in the second there is an unknown (majhūl) narrator.

  • Ibn al-Qaṭṭān

machine translationThis Muḥammad b. Kathīr narrates from al-Awzāʿī and others, and he is weak (ḍaʿīf), and his weakest transmission is from al-Awzāʿī. On this basis, it is not right to think this hadith is sound (ṣaḥīḥ) by this route.

    in مسند البزار, p. 8440

machine translationIbn ʿAbd al-Ḥaqq said in his reply to al-Muḥallā: This is a weak (ḍaʿīf) hadith, because in its chain is Muḥammad b. Kathīr al-Ṣanʿānī. Then he mentioned the statement of Aḥmad and others about him.

    in مسند البزار, p. 8440
