وَحَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ: نَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ

صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ فِي آخِرِ الصُّفُوفِ، أَوْ كَانَ فِي آخِرِ الصُّفُوفِ، فَقَالَ: يَا فُلَانُ أَلَا تَتَّقِي اللهَ ؟ أَلَا تَنْظُرُ كَيْفَ تُصَلِّي ؟ إِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ إِذَا قَامَ يُصَلِّي إِنَّمَا يَقُومُ يُنَاجِي رَبَّهُ فَلْيَنْظُرْ كَيْفَ يُصَلِّي ؟ إِنَّكُمْ تَرَوْنَ أَنِّي لَا أَرَاكُمْ، إِنِّي وَاللهِ أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ خَلْفِ ظَهْرِي كَمَا أَرَى مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيَّ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ led us in prayer, and there was a man in the last rows, or he was in the last rows. He said: 'O so-and-so, do you not fear God? Do you not look at how you pray? When one of you stands to pray, he stands to converse with his Lord, so let him look at how he prays. You think that I do not see you; by God, I see you from behind my back just as I see from in front of me.'
