✧ Do you dispute about the moon on the night of the full moon, when there is no cloud below it? They said: No. He said: Do you dispute about seeing the sun, when there is no cloud below it? They said: No. He said: Then you will see Him in the same way. The people will be held back on the Day of Resurrection, then it will be said: 'Whoever used to worship something, let him follow it.' Among them are those who follow the sun, among them those who follow the moon, and among them those who follow false deities. This community will remain, including its hypocrites, until the Blessed and Exalted comes to them and says: 'I am your Lord.' They will say: 'You are our Lord.' Then Allah will strike a wall of Hell between them, and I will be the first of the messengers to pass with my community. On that day no one will speak except the messengers, and the call of the messengers on that day will be: 'O Allah, grant safety, grant safety.' In Hell there are hooks like the thorns of the Sa'dan plant. Have you seen the thorns of the Sa'dan? They said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. He said: They are like the thorns of the Sa'dan, snatching people according to their deeds. Among them are those who are crushed, or he said: crushed, and among them are those who are saved. Until when Allah, Blessed and Exalted, wills mercy for whomever He wills among the people of the Fire, Allah, Blessed and Exalted, commands that they bring out those who used to worship Allah. They will bring them out, recognizing them by the marks of prostration. Allah has forbidden the Fire to consume the marks of prostration. They will come out of the Fire, having been burned, and water of life will be poured over them, and they will grow in it as a seed grows in the silt of a flood. Then Allah, Blessed and Exalted, will finish judging between the servants, and one man will remain between Paradise and Hell, he is the last of the people of Paradise to enter Paradise, facing the Fire. He will say: 'O Lord, turn my face away from the Fire, for its smell has afflicted me and its heat has burned me.' Allah, Blessed and Exalted, will say: 'Is it likely that if I do that for you, you will ask Me for something else?' He will say: 'No, by Your might.' He will give his Lord whatever pledge and covenant He wills, and Allah will turn his face away from the Fire. When he faces Paradise and sees its splendor, he will remain silent as long as Allah wills him to remain silent, then he will say: 'O Lord, bring me forward to the gate of Paradise.' Allah, Blessed and Exalted, will say: 'Did you not give pledges and covenants that you would not ask for anything other than what you had asked?' He will say: 'O Lord, do not make me the most wretched of Your creation.' He will say: 'Is it likely that if I grant you that, you will ask Me for something else?' He will say: 'No, by Your might, I will not ask You for anything else.' He said: He will give his Lord whatever pledge and covenant He wills, and He will bring him forward to the gate of Paradise. When he reaches its gate, it will open for him, and he will see its splendor and what is in it of freshness and joy. He will remain silent as long as Allah wills him to remain silent, then he will say: 'O Lord, admit me to Paradise.' The Blessed and Exalted will say: 'How treacherous you are, how treacherous you are. You have given pledges and covenants that you would not ask for anything other than what you were given.' He will say: 'O Lord, do not make me the most wretched of Your creation!' So Allah, Blessed and Exalted, will laugh at him, then He will permit him to enter Paradise. Then He will say: 'Wish,' until when his wishes are exhausted, Allah, Blessed and Exalted, will say, and his Lord, Blessed and Exalted, will remind him, until when his wishes come to an end, Allah, Blessed and Exalted, will say: 'You will have that and the like of it with it.' Abu Sa'id al-Khudri said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'You will have that and ten times its like.' Abu Hurayrah said: I did not memorize from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ except that he said: 'You will have that and the like of it with it.' Abu Sa'id said: I bear witness that I heard him say: 'You will have that and ten times its like.' This hadith was narrated by Shu'ayb and Mu'awiyah b. Yahya, from al-Zuhri, from Sa'id b. al-Musayyib and 'Ata' b. Yazid, from Abu Hurayrah and Abu Sa'id.
