وَنَاهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى، قَالَ: نَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، وَاللَّفْظُ لَفْظُ مَعْمَرٍ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّهُ أَصَابَ أَهْلَهُ فِي رَمَضَانَ نَهَارًا، فَقَالَ: أَعْتِقْ رَقَبَةً، قَالَ: لَيْسَ عِنْدِي، قَالَ: صُمْ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ، قَالَ: لَا أَسْتَطِيعُ، قَالَ: فَأَطْعِمْ سِتِّينَ مِسْكِينًا، قَالَ: لَا أَجِدُ. قَالَ: فَأُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِعَرَقٍ فِيهِ تَمْرٌ، فَقَالَ: أَيْنَ الرَّجُلُ الَّذِي قَالَ مَا قَالَ آنِفًا خُذْ هَذَا فَتَصَدَّقْ بِهِ، قَالَ: وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ مَا بَيْنَ لَابَتَيْهَا أَهْلُ بَيْتٍ أَحْوَجُ إِلَيْهِ مِنَّا. قَالَ: فَضَحِكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى رَأَيْنَا نَوَاجِذَهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: خُذْهَا فَكُلْهَا، وَأَنْفِقْهَا عَلَى عِيَالِكَ

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I had intercourse with my wife during the day in Ramadan.' He said, 'Free a slave.' He said, 'I do not have one.' He said, 'Fast two consecutive months.' He said, 'I am not able.' He said, 'Feed sixty poor persons.' He said, 'I cannot find.' He said, 'Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was brought a basket of dates, and he said, 'Where is the man who said what he said just now? Take this and give it in charity.' He said, 'By the One who sent you with the truth, there is no household between its two lava fields more in need of it than us.' He said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed until we saw his molars, then said, 'Take it and eat it, and spend it on your family.'
