✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ used to visit the Anṣār. When he came to the dwellings of the Anṣār, their children would gather around him, and he would supplicate for them, wipe their heads, and greet them. He came to the door of Saʿd and greeted them, saying: 'Peace be upon you and the mercy of God.' Saʿd responded, but the Prophet ﷺ did not hear him, until he had greeted three times. The Prophet ﷺ would not exceed three greetings; if permission was granted, [he entered], otherwise he left. So the Prophet ﷺ turned back. Saʿd came rushing and said: 'O Messenger of God, by the One who sent you with the truth, I heard every greeting and responded to you, but I wanted you to increase our share of peace and mercy. Enter, O Messenger of God.' So he entered and sat down. Saʿd brought food close to him, and the Prophet ﷺ ate from it. When he wanted to leave, he said: 'The righteous have eaten your food, the fasting have broken their fast with you, and the angels have prayed for you.'
