✧ And a man asked him about a man who accuses his wife of adultery. He said: I asked Anas about that while I thought that he had knowledge about it. He said: The first one to engage in li'an with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was Hilal b. Umayyah; he accused his wife of being with Sharik b. al-Sahma', and he was the first to engage in li'an. Sharik was the maternal brother of al-Bara' b. Malik. So he conducted li'an between them and said: "Observe her; if she gives birth to a white, straight-haired child, then he belongs to Hilal b. Umayyah, and if she gives birth to a child with kohl-like eyes, curly hair, and thin legs, then he belongs to Sharik." He said: I was informed that she gave birth to a child with kohl-like eyes, curly hair, and thin legs.
