حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ وَجَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفُضَيْلِ قَالَا: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، نَا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ صُبَيْحٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:

أَذَّنَ بِلَالٌ قَبْلَ الْفَجْرِ، فَأَمَرَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ، فَيَقُولَ: أَلَا إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ نَامَ، فَرَقِيَ بِلَالٌ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: لَيْتَ بِلَالًا ثَكِلَتْهُ أُمُّهُ، وَابْتَلَّ مِنْ نَضْحِ دَمِ جَبِينِهِ

Translation

✧ Bilāl gave the call to prayer before dawn, so the Prophet ﷺ commanded him to go back and say, “Indeed, the servant has slept.” Bilāl then ascended while saying, “Would that Bilāl’s mother had lost him, and he became wet from the moisture of his forehead’s sweat.”
