حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ مُثَنَّى، نَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:
دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَائِطًا مِنْ حِيطَانِ الْمَدِينَةِ لِبَنِي النَّجَّارِ، فَسَمِعَ صَوْتًا مِنْ قَبْرٍ، فَقَالَ: مَتَى دُفِنَ هَذَا ؟ قَالُوا: فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَأَعْجَبَهُ ذَلِكَ، وَقَالَ: لَوْلَا أَنْ لَا تَدَافَنُوا لَدَعَوْتُ اللهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى أَنْ يُسْمِعَكُمْ عَذَابَ الْقَبْرِ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered a garden among the gardens of Madinah belonging to the Banu al-Najjar, and he heard a voice from a grave. He said: 'When was this one buried?' They said: 'In the pre-Islamic period.' He was pleased with that and said: 'Had it not been that you would refrain from burying one another, I would have called upon Allah, Blessed and Exalted, to make you hear the punishment of the grave.'
