✧ The Basrans from Anas

وَبِإِسْنَادِهِ ; قَالَ:

كَانَ قَائِمًا يُصَلِّي فِي بَعْضِ حُجَرِهِ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ، فَجَاءَ أُنَاسٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ لِيُصَلُّوا بِصَلَاتِهِ، فَصَلَّى، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ إِلَيْهِمْ، فَفَعَلَ ذَلِكَ مِرَارًا، فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحُوا قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّيْنَا اللَّيْلَةَ مَعَكَ، وَنَحْنُ نُحِبُّ أَنْ نَتَشَبَّهَ بِصَلَاتِكَ، قَالَ: قَدْ عَلِمْتُ مَكَانَكُمْ، وَعَمْدًا فَعَلْتُ.

Translation

✧ He was standing praying in one of his rooms at night, and some Muslims came to pray with him. He prayed, then entered his house for as long as Allah willed, then came out to them. He did that several times. When morning came, they said: O Messenger of Allah, we prayed with you last night, and we would like to imitate your prayer. He said: I knew your place, and I did it deliberately.
