✧ The Basrans from Anas

وَبِإِسْنَادِهِ ; قَالَ:
آلَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ شَهْرًا، فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ النَّاسُ فَحَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ، فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ قَاعِدًا وَهُمْ قِيَامٌ، فَلَمَّا حَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ الْأُخْرَى ذَهَبُوا يَقُومُونَ، فَقَالَ: ائْتَمُّوا بِإِمَامِكُمْ فَإِذَا صَلَّى قَاعِدًا فَصَلُّوا قُعُودًا، وَإِذَا صَلَّى قَائِمًا فَصَلُّوا قِيَامًا، فَمَكَثَ تِسْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ لَيْلَةً ثُمَّ تَرَكَ، فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلَيْسَ آلَيْتَ شَهْرًا ؟ قَالَ: الشَّهْرُ تِسْعٌ وَعِشْرُونَ.
Translation
✧ The Prophet ﷺ swore to stay away from his wives for a month, and people came to him. When prayer time came, he prayed sitting while they were standing. When the next prayer time came, they started to stand, so he said: Follow your imam; if he prays sitting, pray sitting, and if he prays standing, pray standing. He remained for twenty-nine nights, then ended it. They said: O Messenger of Allah, did you not swear a month? He said: The month is twenty-nine.
