حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ، نَا خَلَفُ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ، نَا حَفْصٌ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ; أَنَّهُ

كَانَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَمَرَّ بِرَجُلٍ قَائِمًا يُصَلِّي، فَلَمَّا قَضَى الرَّجُلُ الصَّلَاةَ وَجَلَسَ، تَشَهَّدَ وَدَعَا، فَقَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَنَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدَ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ الْمَنَّانُ، يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: أَتَدْرُونَ بِمَا دَعَا ؟ قَالُوا: اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ، قَالَ: لَقَدْ دَعَا بِاسْمِهِ الْعَظِيمِ الَّذِي إِذَا دُعِيَ بِهِ أَجَابَ، وَإِذَا سُئِلَ بِهِ أَعْطَى

Translation

✧ He was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he passed by a man standing in prayer. When the man finished the prayer and sat down, he recited the tashahhud and supplicated, saying: O Allah, I ask You by [the fact] that to You belongs praise; there is no god but You, the Bestower, O Possessor of majesty and honor. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Do you know what he supplicated with? They said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He said: He has supplicated by His greatest name, by which when He is called He answers, and when He is asked He gives.
