✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raided Khaybar. We prayed the dawn prayer near it in the dark. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mounted his riding animal, and Abu Talhah mounted, and I rode behind Abu Talhah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ rode through the lanes of Khaybar until his thigh was exposed, so that I saw the whiteness of the thigh of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When he entered the village, he said: Allah is Greatest. When we descend upon the courtyard of a people, evil is the morning of those who were warned - he said it three times. The people came out to their work and said: Muhammad and the army (al-khamis), and al-khamis means the army. We conquered it, and the captives were gathered. Dihyah came and said: O Prophet of Allah, give me a girl from the captives. He said: Go and take a girl. He went and took Safiyyah bint Huyayy. A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, you gave Dihyah Safiyyah bint Huyayy, the mistress of Qurayzah and al-Nadir. She is only suitable for you. He said: Call him to bring her. He came with her. When the Prophet ﷺ looked at her, he said: Take another girl from the captives. He said: The Prophet ﷺ freed her and married her. I said: O Abu Hamzah, what did he give her as her dower? He said: She herself; he freed her and married her. When he was on the road, Umm Sulaym prepared her for him at night, and in the morning the Prophet ﷺ was a bridegroom. He said: Whoever has something, let him bring it to me. He spread a leather mat. A man would bring dried curd, another would bring dates, another would bring clarified butter, and another would bring barley meal, until they made a dish of mixed dates and butter (hays). That was the wedding feast of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
