✧ A woman from the Ghamid tribe came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said that she had committed adultery. The Prophet ﷺ turned away from her, but she said, “O Messenger of Allah, do you intend to turn me away as you turned away Maʿiz? She is pregnant from adultery.” He said, “When do you give birth?” She went away, and when she had given birth she came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ carrying the child and said, “I have given birth.” He said, “Go away until you have weaned him.” She went away, then came back with him while in his hand was a piece of bread, and said, “I have weaned him.” He said, “Bring me someone who will take charge of him.” A man stood up and said, “I will take charge of him.” The Prophet’s companions ﷺ were astonished at the man and said, “What harm would it have been for him if he had not taken charge of him?” Then he ordered that she be stoned, and she was stoned. Then he prayed over her. A man said, “How can you pray over her when she is like this?” The Prophet ﷺ said, “She has repented with such a repentance that if it were divided among the people of Madinah, it would suffice them all,” or something like that.
