✧ When the pain of Abu Dharr intensified, or she said: he was attended, I said: "You will die in a desert of the earth and I do not have anything to shroud him with." He said to me: "Look at the road." So I began to go out and look, then return to him. While I was doing that, suddenly I saw men like vultures approaching. So I waved to them with my garment, and they hurried until they came towards me. I said to them: "Would you like to attend a man from the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ?" They said: "Who is he?" I said: "Abu Dharr." So they ransomed him with their fathers and mothers. Then they entered upon him. He said to them: "Rejoice, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say to a group of which I was one: 'A man from among you will certainly die in a desert of the earth, attended by a band of Muslims.' And there is none of that group except that he has died in a village and congregation other than I. And I heard him say: 'Whoever has three of his children die, he will not enter the Fire, or the Fire will not touch him.' So when I die, shroud me. I adjure Allah that a man who shrouds me should be an 'arif, a barid, or a naqib." He said: "And there was none of that group except that he had done some of that, except a young man among them who said: 'I will shroud you in two garments in my bag from my mother's yarn.'" He said: "You, then shroud me." He said: "So he died, and they washed him, shrouded him, prayed over him, and departed. And the group were all from Yemen."
