✧ Yazid b. Mu'awiyah sent me to 'Abdullah b. Abi Awfa. I arrived with some people from the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked, 'What do you command the people to do?' He said, 'Abu al-Qasim ﷺ advised me that if I encounter any of this [civil strife], I should go to no one, break my sword, and sit in my house. If someone enters upon me in my house, he said, "Sit in your private chamber. If someone enters upon you there, kneel on your knees." And he said, "Bear your sin and my sin, and you will be among the companions of the Fire, and that is the recompense of the wrongdoers."' So I have broken my sword. If someone enters upon me in my house, I will enter my private chamber. If someone enters upon me in my private chamber, I will kneel on my knees and say what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded me to say.
