✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ commanded us to give charity. That coincided with some wealth I had, so I said: "Today I will outdo Abu Bakr if I ever outdo him." I came with half of my wealth. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "What have you left for your family?" I said: "The same amount." Abu Bakr came with all that he had. He said: "What have you left for your family?" He said: "God and His Messenger." I said: "I will never compete with you in anything again."
