حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَطِيَّةَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا قَطَرِيٌّ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حُذَيْفَةَ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ ؓ قَالَ:

جِئْتُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، وَالْعَبَّاسُ جَالِسٌ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَفَاطِمَةُ ؓ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ فَقَالَ: يَا فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، اعْمَلِي لِلهِ خَيْرًا إِنِّي لَا أُغْنِي عَنْكِ مِنَ اللهِ شَيْئًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ قَالَ: يَعْنِي ذَلِكَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " يَا عَبَّاسُ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ، يَا عَمَّ رَسُولِ اللهِ اعْمَلْ لِلهِ خَيْرًا إِنِّي لَا أُغْنِي عَنْكَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مِنَ اللهِ شَيْئًا " قَالَهَا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: يَا حُذَيْفَةُ، ادْنُ، فَدَنَوْتُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " يَا حُذَيْفَةُ، مَنْ شَهِدَ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَنِّي رَسُولُ اللهِ " وَآمَنَ أَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ: " بِمَا جِئْتُ بِهِ إِلَّا حَرَّمَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ النَّارَ، وَوَجَبَتْ لَهُ الْجَنَّةُ، وَمَنَ صَامَ رَمَضَانَ يُرِيدُ وَجْهَ اللهِ، وَالدَّارَ الْآخِرَةِ خَتَمَ اللهُ لَهُ بِهِ وَحَرَّمَ عَلَيْهِ النَّارَ، وَمَنْ تَصَدَّقَ بِصَدَقَةٍ يُرِيدُ بِهَا وَجْهَ اللهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى، وَالدَّارَ الْآخِرَةَ، وَمَنْ حَجَّ بَيْتَ اللهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى يُرِيدُ وَجْهَ اللهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى، وَالدَّارَ الْآخِرَةَ خَتَمَ اللهُ بِهِ، وَحَرَّمَ عَلَيْهِ النَّارَ وَوَجَبَتْ لَهُ الْجَنَّةُ " قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أُسِرُّ هَذَا أَمْ أُعْلِنُهُ ؟ قَالَ: " أَعْلِنْهُ

Translation

✧ I came to the Prophet ﷺ while al-'Abbas was sitting on his right and Fatimah ؓ on his left. He said: "O Fatimah, daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, do good deeds for Allah, for I cannot avail you anything against Allah on the Day of Resurrection." He said: meaning he said that three times. Then he said: "O 'Abbas b. 'Abd al-Muttalib, O uncle of the Messenger of Allah, do good deeds for Allah, for I cannot avail you anything against Allah on the Day of Resurrection." He said it three times. Then he said: "O Hudhayfah, come closer." So I came closer. Then he said: "O Hudhayfah, whoever bears witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah" and believes, I think he said, "in what I have brought, Allah makes the Fire forbidden for him and Paradise obligatory for him. And whoever fasts Ramadan seeking the Face of Allah and the Hereafter, Allah seals it for him and makes the Fire forbidden for him. And whoever gives charity seeking thereby the Face of Allah, Blessed and Exalted, and the Hereafter, and whoever performs Hajj to the House of Allah, Blessed and Exalted, seeking the Face of Allah, Blessed and Exalted, and the Hereafter, Allah seals it for him and makes the Fire forbidden for him and Paradise obligatory for him." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, should I keep this secret or make it public?" He said: "Make it public."
