✧ Umar said to us: "Which of you will narrate to us about the tribulation as he heard it from the Messenger of God ﷺ?" Hudhayfah said: "I said: I will." He said: "Speak, for you are indeed bold." I said: "O Commander of the Faithful, the tribulation of a man in his family, his wealth, and his neighbor is expiated by fasting, prayer, and charity." He said: "I did not ask about this. Rather I asked about the one that surges like the sea surges." I said: "O Commander of the Faithful, between you and it there is a closed door." He said: "Will it be broken or opened?" I said: "No, rather it will be broken." He said: "That is more likely never to be closed." He said: "I said to Hudhayfah: 'Does he know who the closed door is?' He said: 'Yes, by God, he knows it as one of you knows that tonight comes before tomorrow.' I narrated to him a hadith that is not among errors."
