✧ When the expedition of Tabuk took place, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered a caller, who announced that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had taken the mountain pass, so they should not take it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ traveled through the pass, with 'Ammar driving and Hudhayfa leading him. Suddenly they came upon mounts carrying veiled people. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Lead, lead; and O 'Ammar, drive, drive. 'Ammar advanced upon the people and struck the faces of their mounts. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ descended from the pass, he said: "O 'Ammar, I recognized the people," or he said: "I recognized most of the people or the mounts. Do you know what the people intended?" I said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He said: "They intended to startle the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."
