✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, may I draw near to you?' He said, 'Yes.' He said, 'Then he drew near until he placed his hand on his knees and said, "What is Islam?" He said, "That you bear witness that there is no deity but Allah and that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger, that you establish the prayer, give the zakat, fast Ramadan, and perform the Hajj to the House." He said, "If I do that, then I have become a Muslim?" He said, "Yes." He said, "You have spoken the truth, O Messenger of Allah. What is faith (iman)?" He said, "That you believe in Allah, the Last Day, the resurrection after death, Paradise and Hell, and the divine decree, all of it, its good and its evil." He said, "If I do that, then I am a believer?" He said, "Yes." He said, "You have spoken the truth." He said, "What is ihsan?" He said, "That you fear Allah as though you see Him, and if you do not see Him, then indeed He sees you." He said, "If I do that, then I have done ihsan?" He said, "Yes." He said, "You have spoken the truth." He said, "Then he confirmed him, and the man turned away. So he said, 'Bring him to me.' He was looked for but not found. Then the Prophet ﷺ said, 'This is Jibril ﷺ ; he came to teach you your religion.'
