وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ، عَنِ الْعُمَرِيِّ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ:

أَصْبَحْتُ أَنَا وَحَفْصَةُ صَائِمَتَيْنِ، فَأُهْدِيَ لَنَا طَعَامٌ - وَالطَّعَامُ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَزِيزٌ - فَأَفْطَرْنَا، فَذَكَرْنَا ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: صُومَا يَوْمًا مَكَانَهُ

✧ I and Hafsah woke up fasting, then food was gifted to us—and food was scarce on that day—so we broke our fast. We mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said: "Fast a day in its place."
