That she came to the Prophet ﷺ to visit him while he was in iʿtikāf in the mosque during the last ten days of Ramadan. She spoke with him for a while, then she got up to return, and the Prophet ﷺ got up with her to escort her back. When she reached the door of the mosque, the one by the door of Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, two men of the Anṣār passed by them and greeted the Prophet ﷺ, then went on. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them: "Take it easy, you two; she is only Ṣafiyyah bint Ḥuyayy." They said: "Glory be to Allah, O Messenger of Allah!" and that weighed heavily upon them. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Indeed, the Devil reaches the son of Adam as the blood reaches (flows through) him, and I feared that he would cast something into your hearts."

machine translationAl-Zuhrī narrates it, and there is disagreement about it from him. Maʿmar, Shuʿayb b. Abī Ḥamzah, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Isḥāq and al-Jarrāḥ b. Minhāl narrated it from al-Zuhrī, from ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn, from Ṣafiyyah. Ibn ʿUyaynah narrated it from al-Zuhrī, from ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn as a mursal report (mursal), and the connected (muttaṣil) version is more authentic (aṣaḥḥ).
