That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the day of the conquest of Mecca: "There are four whom I will not grant safety, whether in the unsanctified land or in the sanctuary: al-Ḥuwayrith b. Maʿbad, Miqyas, Hilāl b. Khaṭal, and ʿAbdullāh b. Abī Sarḥ." As for al-Ḥuwayrith, ʿAlī ؓ killed him. As for Miqyas, a cousin of his killed him, in a case of close kinship. As for Hilāl b. Khaṭal, al-Zubayr ؓ killed him. As for ʿAbdullāh b. Abī Sarḥ, ʿUthmān b. ʿAffān ؓ requested safety for him, and he was his foster brother. And there were two singing girls belonging to Miqyas who used to sing satirical verses against the Messenger of Allah ﷺ; one of them was killed, and the other escaped and became Muslim.
