✧ When the Prophet ﷺ began the prayer, he would say the takbir, then say: 'I have turned my face to the One who originated the heavens and the earth, as a hanif, and I am not of the polytheists. Indeed, my prayer, my rites, my living, and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds. He has no partner, and with that I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims. O Allah, You are the Sovereign; there is no god but You. You are my Lord and I am Your servant. I have wronged myself and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive all my sins; none forgives sins but You. [O Allah,] guide me to the best of character; none guides to its best but You. Turn away from me its evil; none turns away from me its evil but You. Here I am at Your service, all good is in Your hands, and evil is not attributed to You. I am through You and to You. Blessed and exalted are You. I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance.' When he bowed, he said: 'O Allah, to You I have bowed, in You I have believed, and to You I have submitted. My hearing, sight, brain, bones, and sinews are humbled before You.' When he raised his head, he said: 'Allah hears the one who praises Him. Our Lord, to You belongs praise, filling the heavens and the earth and what is between them, and filling whatever You will after that.' When he prostrated, he said: 'O Allah, to You I have prostrated, in You I have believed, and to You I have submitted. My face has prostrated to the One who created it, shaped it, and perfected its form, then split open its hearing and sight. Blessed is Allah, the best of creators.' When he finished the prayer and said the salam, he said: 'O Allah, forgive me for what I have sent ahead and what I have delayed, what I have concealed and what I have declared, and what I have exceeded. You are more knowing of it than I. You are the Advancer and You are the Delayer; there is no god but You.'
