✧ Prayer has a beginning and an end. The first time of Zuhr is when the sun declines, and its last time is when the time of Asr begins. The first time of Asr is when its time begins, and its last time is when the sun turns yellow. The first time of Maghrib is when the sun sets, and its last time is when the horizon disappears. The first time of the later Isha is when the horizon disappears, and its last time is when the night reaches its middle. The first time of Fajr is when dawn breaks, and its last time is when the sun rises.

What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • al-Bukhari

machine translationThis ḥadīth of Muḥammad b. Faḍīl is an error; Ibn Faḍīl made a mistake in it.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 7252
  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationIt is not authentic as a connected report (musnad); Ibn Faḍīl and others erred in it. It is narrated from al-Aʿmash from Mujāhid as a mursal report, and that is more authentic.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 7252
  • al-Bukhari

machine translationThis is what we mentioned earlier from al-Bukhārī, that Muḥammad b. Faḍīl made a mistake in connecting it.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 7252
  • Abū Ḥatim al-Rāzī

machine translationThis is an error in which Ibn Faḍīl erred. The companions of al-Aʿmash narrate it from al-Aʿmash from Mujāhid as his own statement.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 7252
  • Yaḥyá b. Maʿīn

machine translationAll the people narrated it from al-Aʿmash from Mujāhid as a mursal report. Muḥammad b. Faḍīl narrated it from al-Aʿmash and made a mistake in it. It is a weak (ḍaʿīf) ḥadīth, worthless; it is only from al-Aʿmash from Mujāhid, mursal.

  • Ibn al-Sakan

machine translationHe declared it sound (ṣaḥḥaḥahu).
