حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ وَسَعْدٌ قَالا حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ قَالَ سَعْدٌ ابْنِ الْهَادِ سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا يَقُولُ
مَا سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَجْمَعُ أَبَاهُ، وَأُمَّهُ لِأَحَدٍ غَيْرَ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ، فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ: ارْمِ يَا سَعْدُ، فِدَاكَ أَبِي وَأُمِّي

✧ I never heard the Prophet ﷺ combine his father and mother for anyone except Sa'd b. Abi Waqqas. Indeed, I heard him say on the day of Uhud: Shoot, O Sa'd, may my father and mother be your ransom.
