حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي فَزَارَةَ الْعَبْسِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زَيْدٍ مَوْلَى عَمْرِو بْنِ حُرَيْثٍعَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ
لَمَّا كَانَ لَيْلَةُ الْجِنِّ تَخَلَّفَ مِنْهُمْ رَجُلَانِ وَقَالَا: نَشْهَدُ الْفَجْرَ مَعَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ. فَقَالَ لِيَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: أَمَعَكَ مَاءٌ؟ قُلْتُ: لَيْسَ مَعِي مَاءٌ، وَلَكِنْ مَعِي إِدَاوَةٌ فِيهَا نَبِيذٌ. فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: تَمْرَةٌ طَيِّبَةٌ، وَمَاءٌ طَهُورٌ فَتَوَضَّأَ.

✧ On the night of the jinn, two of them stayed behind and said: We will attend the dawn prayer with you, O Messenger of God. The Prophet ﷺ said to me: Do you have water? I said: I have no water with me, but I have a vessel containing nabidh. The Prophet ﷺ said: A good date and purifying water, so he performed ablution.
