Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me the Tashah-hud as he taught me a Sura from the Qur'an, while my hand was between his hands. (Tashah-hud was) all the best compliments and the prayers and the good things are for Allah. Peace and Allah's Mercy and Blessings be on you, O Prophet! Peace be on us and on the pious slaves of Allah, I testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and I also testify that Muhammad is Allah's slave and His Apostle. (We used to recite this in the prayer) during the lifetime of the Prophet ﷺ, but when he had died, we used to say, "Peace be on the Prophet." (Using translation from Bukhārī 6265)

machine translationMujāhid narrates it, and there is disagreement about it from him. Sayf b. Sulaymān and ʿAbd al-Karīm b. Abī al-Mukhāriq Abū Umayyah narrated it from Mujāhid, from Abū Maʿmar, from ʿAbdullāh. ʿUthmān b. al-Aswad al-Makkī narrated it from Mujāhid, from Ibn Masʿūd, omitting Abū Maʿmar from it. The hadith is the hadith of Sayf.

machine translationAnd from the hadith: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to teach us the tashahhud: 'All greetings, good and pure things belong to Allah. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger,' then he would send prayers upon the Prophet ﷺ." In al-Tirmidhī's al-ʿIlal al-Kabīr: I asked Muḥammad about this hadith and he said: Shuʿbah narrated from Abū Bishr, from Mujāhid, from Ibn ʿUmar, and Sayf narrated from Mujāhid, from Abū Maʿmar, from Ibn Masʿūd, and that is the preserved (maḥfūẓ) version in my view. I said: It seems it is narrated from Ibn ʿUmar from the Prophet ﷺ, and narrated from Ibn ʿUmar from Abū Bakr. He said: This and that are possible. Muḥammad said: and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Isḥāq, who narrated from [unclear], and Ibn Abī ʿAdī made it halted (mawqūf). End. It has already preceded, from al-Dāraquṭnī, that Ibn Abī ʿAdī raised it (to the Prophet).
