حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍعَنْ عُمَرَ قَالَ

كَانَ أَهْلُ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ لَا يُفِيضُونَ مِنْ جَمْعٍ حَتَّى يَقُولُوا: أَشْرِقْ ثَبِيرُ كَيْمَا نُغِيرُ، فَلَمَّا جَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَالَفَهُمْ، فَكَانَ يَدْفَعُ مِنْ جَمْعٍ مِقْدَارَ صَلَاةِ الْمُسْفِرِينَ بِصَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ.

Translation

  4. ʿAmr b. Maymūnʿan ʿUmar

✧ In the days of ignorance, people would not depart from Jamʿ until they said: “Shine, Thabīr, so that we may hasten.” When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came, he opposed them, and he would depart from Jamʿ at the time of the dawn prayer before sunrise.
