✧ I performed the Hajj and came to Madinah in the year in which 'Umar was struck. He delivered a sermon and said: "I saw as if a red rooster pecked me one or two pecks" (Shu'ba was the one who doubted). He did not wait but a Friday until he was stabbed... and he mentioned the like of it, except that he said: "I instruct you concerning the people of your covenant, for they are the covenant of your Prophet." Shu'ba said: "Then I asked him after that, and he said regarding the Bedouins: 'I instruct you concerning the Bedouins, for they are your brothers and the enemy of your enemy.'"
