✧ Najdah al-Haruri wrote to Ibn 'Abbas asking him about killing children, whether women used to attend war with the Prophet ﷺ, and whether he allotted a share for them. Yazid b. Hurmuz said: I wrote Ibn 'Abbas's letter to Najdah. He wrote to him: You wrote asking me about killing children, and you say that the learned companion of Musa killed a boy. If you knew of children what that learned man knew, you would kill; but you do not know, so avoid them, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade killing them. You wrote asking me about women, whether they used to attend war with the Prophet ﷺ and whether he allotted a share for them. They did attend with the Prophet ﷺ, but as for allotting a share for them, he did not do that; however, he gave them a small portion.
