✧ The Prophet ﷺ did not set a fixed punishment for wine. Ibn ʿAbbās said: A man drank and became drunk. He was found reeling in a mountain pass, so he was brought to the Prophet ﷺ. When he came alongside the house of ʿAbbās, he broke free and entered upon ʿAbbās, and clung to him from behind. They mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, and he laughed and said: 'He did that?' Then he did not order them to do anything about it.
