حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ

كَانَ يَسْدِلُ شَعَرَهُ، وَكَانَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ يَفْرُقُونَ رُؤُوسَهُمْ، وَكَانَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ يَسْدِلُونَ رُؤُوسَهُمْ، وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُحِبُّ مُوَافَقَةَ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ فِيمَا لَمْ يَنْزِلْ عَلَيْهِ، فَفَرَقَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ رَأْسَهُ

Translation

  6. al-Nabī ﷺ

✧ He used to let his hair hang down, while the polytheists used to part their hair, and the People of the Book used to let their hair hang down. The Prophet ﷺ liked to follow the People of the Book in matters not revealed to him, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ parted his hair.
