✧ Send for a physician to look at this wound of mine. He said: They sent for a physician from the Arabs, and he gave Umar nabidh to drink. The nabidh resembled blood when it came out from the stab wound below the navel. He said: Then I called another physician from the Ansar, from Banu Mu'awiya, and he gave him milk to drink. The milk came out from the stab wound, pure and white. The physician said to him: 'O Commander of the Faithful, make your will.' Umar said: 'The brother of Banu Mu'awiya has told me the truth. If you had said otherwise, I would have called you a liar.' He said: The people wept over him when they heard that. He said: 'Do not weep over us. Whoever is weeping, let him leave. Did you not hear what the Messenger of God ﷺ said?' He said: 'The dead person is punished by the wailing of his family over him.' For that reason, Abdullah did not permit anyone to be wept over in his presence for a deceased person among his children or others.
